Time Capsule Ceremony There will be a Long County Cornerstone Ceremony on July 23, Wednesday, at 10:00 A.M. Everyone is invited to come out and celebrate the opening of the cornerstone time capsule at the Long County Courthouse. The time capsule was placed at the courthouse on July 7, 1926 by the Long County Branch of the Free and Accepted Masons of Georgia. You are invited to view the artifacts from the past and the items which will be placed in the time capsule on the day of the ceremony.Cookbooks Available The Long County Library has it's cookbooks for sale at the library and at the Ludowici Drug Store. They are mostly local recipes and sell for $10.00. Please purchase a cookbook to support the Long County Library. You can also send us a picture of the item you are selling to get faster results by e-mail - dbrown52@windstream.net Here is one example of a freebie over in the classified section (look on the left side of the website to click on view classifieds).Jr. Blue Tide Football Camp The Jr. Blue Tide Football Camp was a big success with over 40 participants training under the watchful eye of Head Coach Kyle Wilson and other Blue Tide coaches. The boys were shown key fundamental skills and team work was heavily encouraged. At the end of the camp the boys were rewarded with a t-shirt to proudly wear at school that shows they participated. The camp is held each summer to interest young boys in playing football and to continue to build up the Long County football teams.Church of God Youth Revival The Ludowici Church of God will host a Youth Revival which will begin Sunday, July 20th at 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and Monday, July 21st - Friday, July 25th at 7:30 p.m. nightly. There will be five different guest speakers. We will also have youth from Piney Grove Church of God, Unity Church of God and Sterling Church of God ministering in music and drama and of course, LIFE Youth Ministries, of the Ludowici Church of God will be ministering through drama also. Sunday Morning LIFE Youth Ministries will kick off the revival with an explosive Drama titled "I WANT TO BE FREE!" Friday night after service there will be a fellowship time with refreshments. Everyone is invited no matter how young or old. Get Your Dates In Soon Long County The Long County Library is still taking orders for the "2009" community calendar with your birthdays and anniversaries listed. The price of each calendar will be $10. You may list five people on the calendar. If you have more than five to list, you pay .50 for each additional listing, or purchase an extra calendar.  | | The South Atlantic Division of the American Cancer Society is offering a telephone workshop titled “I Didn’t Apply For This Job” to informal caregivers during the month of August. As a telephone workshop, caregivers can receive information and support related to caring for a loved one with cancerfrom the convenience of their home or office. There is no charge for the workshop and no phone charges apply. Topics for the workshop will include concrete steps caregivers can take to address problems that may arise with caregiving and where to turn for help. There will also be time for questions and discussion. The telephone workshop will be offered three different days and at varying times. The dates and times are;Sunday, August 10, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time; Tuesday, August 12, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time; Thursday, August 14, 2008 from 7:00 p.m – 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The workshop facilitator is Julia. A Bucher, RN, Ph.D. Bucher, a caregiver herself, is an associate professor for the Department of Nursing at York College in Pennsylvania. She is co-editor of the “American Cancer Society’s Complete Guide to Cancer Caregiving”.
